Although
having
always been a family devoted to our pets, our
love affair with this wonderful breed began in 1993, with the arrival of our first Cavalier,
Cosmo or "Cossie", as he became known
to us.
With
3 young daughters, all wanting to cuddle, feed,
walk and bath him, it soon became apparent that there was not
enough of "Cossie" to go round and he needed a companion! Little did he
know just how many companions he would have over the following years! True to his gentle, loving
temperament, he enjoyed playing Grandpa to the
youngsters, trotting off to find a quiet spot for
a nap when he'd had enough.

"Cossie"
in his favourite spot - lying along the back of our sofa!

Sadly,
my darling boy's health had been steadily failing him and on
12.01.04, I knew it was time to bid farewell to my best
little mate in the world. With the support of our
wonderful vet Neil, my favourite vet nurse Karen and my dearest friend Josephine,
I
held him close and told him just how much I adored him as he drifted peacefully off to the Rainbow
Bridge.
Wait
patiently for me my darling Cossie Boy for as sure
as the stars shine above, one day I shall come for you.
Until then, the memory of your soft & gentle kisses
remains engraved upon my heart.

THE
RAINBOW BRIDGE
There
is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called
Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours. Just
this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of
meadows, hills and valleys with lush green
grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to
this place. There is always food and water and
warm spring weather. Those old and frail animals
are young again. Those who have been maimed are
made whole again. They play all day with each
other. But there is only one thing
missing. They are not with their special person
who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run
and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops
playing and looks up. The nose twitches, the ears
are up, and the eyes are staring, and this one
suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen
and when you and your special friend meet, you take
him or her into your arms and embrace. Your face
is kissed again and again and you look once more into
the eyes of your trusting pet.
